In his third year at Tennessee Tech University, Dr. Matt Smith suffered a back injury during an intramural basketball game. The excruciating pain was so intense he fell to his knees, gasping for air - he immediately knew his back had suffered a traumatic blow. He was right - for months he experienced debilitating back pain. After exhausting nearly every medical option (or so he thought,) his dad suggested he see a chiropractor. Desperate to find relief, Matt agreed and made an appointment.
The chiropractor took X-rays, conducted a quick exam and saw what was causing Mattβs pain - his spine was misaligned and pinching down on multiple nerves. The chiropractor created a treatment plan and with only two more visits and the therapies he recommended, the pain subsided.
Following that experience, he decided he wanted to become a chiropractor and help patients experience pain relief without destructive medications or invasive surgery. After graduating from Tennessee Tech, he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and began practicing chiropractic in 2014.
Dr. Matt Smith is a native of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, a son, husband, dad and friend of the Wilson County community. When heβs not in the office, Dr. Smith is either hunting, fishing, or spending time with his wife and kids, and dogs, Nelli and Cookie out on the lake.
